The UNC-Chapel Hill MPA Program sits within the School of Government. The School of Government is the largest university-based training facility for public officials in the country. The School’s mission is to improve the lives of North Carolinians by engaging in practical scholarship that helps public officials and citizens understand and improve state and local government. Learn more about the School of Government’s mission, history, and core values.
The unique placement of our program in the School of Government means the very same faculty that are teaching our MPA students are also guiding, consulting, contributing, and educating public officials throughout North Carolina on current issues and solutions facing local and state governments. Faculty are committed to bringing these everyday examples to the classroom to ensure the delivery of a premier public affairs education.
In addition, the MPA Program has developed a Strategic Plan to guide our work. The Goals and Objectives are based on the mission, vision, and values above.
